A local man with four prior DUI’s was recently sentenced in Grundy Co. Witnesses told the Morris Police Department that they saw a vehicle operated by Daryl Rohde, 48, of Morris crash into a guard rail, drive over several grass medians and over boulders in the grass at Stratton Park around 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 23rd of 2022. Witnesses then told police officials that Rohde left the scene on foot.
After an investigation, Rohde was located nearby and arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of the crash. Morris Police Deputy Chief Chad Skelton said Rohde was arrested after he struck a parked vehicle in a parking lot in the 100 block of Wauponsee Street around 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 30th of 2022. Rohde’s blood alcohol concentration level was over .08. Skelton said Rohde has at least three prior DUI arrest in Florida.
Rohde pled guilty to Aggravated DUI with three prior convictions, a class two felony and was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was also placed into the Grundy County Alternative Treatment Court Program. If Rohde passes the program, the class two felony charge will be dropped and he would not have to serve the prison term. However, if Rohde fails the program, he would have to serve the prison term.
