A Morris man who robbed a gas station in Mazon was sentenced in Grundy County on September 20th.
Joseph Kneller pled guilty to Robbery, a class two felony and was placed into the Grundy County Alternative Court Program. If the 22-year-old Kneller does not complete the program, he will have to serve four years in prison followed by two years of parole.
Armed Robbery, a class X felony and Aggravated Robbery, a class one felony charge were dropped as part of the plea agreement. Prosecutors say Kneller had no prior criminal record.
Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley said the 22-year-old Kneller entered the Casey’s gas station in Mazon, brandished a knife and demanded money from an employee on Sunday, June 20th.
Kneller stole an undisclosed amount of money and then left the scene on foot. Briley said no injuries were reported. Briley said Kneller was identified and arrested two days later after receiving several tips through Facebook.
