A Morris man accused of killing another individual with a vehicle in Mazon pleaded not guilty this week in Grundy County.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office said a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Jeremy Applebee struck John Cravens Jr., 63, of Mazon, who was getting his mail in front of his house at 755 East Grand Ridge Road on May 23rd.

Cravens was killed on impact and Applebee’s eastbound vehicle came to a rest in the south ditch.

Applebee has been charged with two counts of Aggravated DUI/Death, both class two felonies and pleaded not guilty.

Applebee has a pretrial hearing on July 23rd and the jury trial is set for August 10th.

If convicted on all charges, Applebee could serve anywhere from three to 14 years in prison or receive probation under extreme circumstances.

Applebee remains in the Grundy County Jail on a $750,000 bond. Applebee has two prior DUI convictions.
