A plea agreement was reached between a Morris man and Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office on drug charges this week.
Ken Benson Jr., 26, of Morris, pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, a class one felony and was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a boot camp recommendation.
If Benson is accepted into and passes the boot camp program, it would greatly reduce his prison term.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad and Morris Police Department conducted a search warrant at a residence on Michael Drive on August 14.
Prosecutors say approximately 7,000 grams of cannabis, 2,000 grams of concentrated cannabis wax, and over 90 vape pens containing cannabis were seized during the search.
In 2012, Benson was arrested for manufacturing and delivering between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis, a class three felony and received 30 months probation.
