The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients at Morris Hospital has increased sustainably in the past week.

Morris Hospital reported that 24 of its 75 hospitalized patients have COVID as of Wednesday, December 1st.

That’s the highest number of hospitalized COVID patients Morris Hospital has had on a single day since last December.

Out of the 24, 19 of those were not vaccinated and five are in the ICU. One person is on a ventilator. Health officials are urging everyone to help slow the spread in the community by wearing a mask in public settings and maintaining a physical distance.

They also said if you haven’t been vaccinated or gotten your booster yet, now is the time. With 51% of the population fully vaccinated, Grundy County lags behind the state of Illinois, which is 57.68 percent.
