The Morris City Council this week discussed a proposal from IDOT to eliminate the striping of crosswalks across Route 47 at Chapin, Jackson and Main Streets.
Morris Mayor Dick Kopczick explains.
Kopczick said IDOT is asking for the city’s permission to eliminate the striping of crosswalks even thought Route 47 is a state highway.
Morris City Attorney Scott Belt had safety concerns with people crossing Route 47 and this idea.
In the end, the council tabled the issue and could discuss it more in the future.
