The Morris City Council on Monday approved a Tax Increment Financing District Redevelopment Agreement with Weits Enterprises and Brian Olson.

A TIF district is an economic development tool used by municipalities in accordance to state statute to promote investment activity in redevelopment, infrastructure and other community projects.

Morris Mayor Dick Kopczick said the loan amount is $30,000.

Earlier this year, the Morris Judiciary and License Committee approved a business license application to Brian Olson to operate Weitz Café on Liberty Street in Morris.

According to city documents, the business has made an estimated $390,000 in upgrades to the outside and inside of the building.
