Grundy County Heroes & Helpers hosted their first fundraising event in late June.
Grundy County Heroes & Helpers is a committee of the Grundy County Sheriff Police Foundation whose mission is to help enhance the lives of children throughout the county; particularly children who have experienced loss, trauma, and/or poverty.
Funds raised benefit the first annual “Shop with a Hero” event, where recipient children will be paired with a local hero in Morris on December 14, 2019 for a Christmas shopping spree.
The fundraising event featured entertainment from the Windy City Dueling Pianos and a generously donated dinner from Geo’s Pizza in Coal City.
It was open to the public with guests given the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and a chance to win over 40 different basket items and gift certificates from several local Grundy County businesses and individuals from the community.
Included in the evening was a 50/50 raffle that raised $6,200 total, half of which going to raffle winner Julia Morrissy of Morris and the other half going to Heroes & Helpers.
Wendy Briley, one of the four committee members, thanked guests for attending and extended an invitation to their next event, “Christmas in July Toy Drive,” taking place on Saturday, July 21 at Walmart in Morris.
