Additional security will be at the Minooka Junior High School campus this morning after administrators were made aware of a possible online threat on Friday.
School officials say a Minooka Junior High School student made an alleged comment that included a statement regarding school violence. After the post, administration immediately contacted the Minooka Police Department to begin investigating.
Before Friday evening concluded, the administration team received notification from the Minooka Police Department that contact was made with the family of the student and an in-person meeting occurred with the student, the family and officers to address the matter.
Minooka Police officials once again stated that in an effort to reassure everyone of the safe learning environment at the junior high, they plan to have a visible presence this morning.
The district would like to express gratitude for the continuous cooperation and communication from their local law enforcement agencies.
