A Marseilles man was arrested following an alleged road rage incident which occurred in Sandwich on Sunday.
According to the Sandwich Police Department, 42-year-old John Chambers of Lincoln St. is charged with Aggravated Assault and Disorderly Conduct.
Officials say an officer was dispatched to the area of Wolfe and Arnold St. at around 3:29 p.m. to investigate a report of a man with a gun stemming from a road rage incident.
While headed to the area the officer was informed that the suspect vehicle, being driven by Chambers, was in a white vehicle and the reporting party was in a black SUV.
The officer was informed that the suspect vehicle was in the area of Arnold St. and Main St. after picking someone up at a residence on N. Wolfe St.
Upon the arrival of another officer, contact was made with Chambers and his passenger. The officer asked if Chambers had a gun on his person, to which he stated that he did with a concealed carry license.
The officer spoke to the complainant about the incident. The complainant reported that Chambers came up behind her vehicle quickly and that she tapped her brakes to let him know to "back off."
Chambers allegedly passed the complainant's vehicle, displayed a handgun and pointed it at her vehicle. The complainant followed Chambers to the residence on N. Wolfe St., where he allegedly displayed the handgun again.
Officers arrested Chambers on the charges and transported him to the Sandwich Police Department for booking.
Chambers was able to post bond and was released with a Feb. 25 court date at the DeKalb County Courthouse.
