Marseilles Fire Protection District reports that they are in the possession of some new firefighting equipment designed to make the fighting of fires in the village and surrounding area.
The Fire Department have ordered and received brand new self contained breathing apparatuses that the firefighters will don when necessary to help them breathe safely in situations such as structure fires when smoke is very heavy within a confined space.
They have obtained twenty-two new air packs, roughly sixty air bottles, and six of the packs have been equipped with thermal imaging cameras.
These devices will assist firefighters with search and rescue efforts when visibility is difficult. These pieces of equipment are taking the place of air packs that are around twenty-five years old.
