The Marseilles City Council this week approved the purchase of a 2007 street sweeper.

The sweeper will be used by the Public Works Department and the cost is not to exceed $86,000.

The city plans to get a four year loan from Ottawa Savings Bank.

The importance of cleaning up grass clippings and not allowing them to enter the city streets was emphasized by the council.

Marseilles Mayor Jim Hollenbeck said that failing to do this is against the law.
