A special use petition for a proposed drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that could be located at 3005 East Spring Road will no longer be happening in the foreseeable future.
Grundy County Land Use Director Heidi Miller said the petitioner of the project, Ryan Behm, was looking to change the zoning from Agriculture to Institutional Residential Use.
However, Board Chairman Chris Balkema explained what happened at the county board meeting this week.
It is unclear why Behm pulled the petition, but he could always submit another one in the future. In early August, the Grundy County Zoning Board of Appeals gave a recommendation to deny the zoning change based on several complaints from residents.
The complaints include safety concerns, property values decreasing, road conditions and the financial impact of the project to the community.
