The Morris Police Department has released more details regarding a shooting that occurred last September.
Morris Police officers were called to the 500 block of Meadowbrook Lane where they say Darian Yates, 20, of Aurora had been shot six times in his legs during a drive by shooting.
As the case progressed and leads were developed, Yates refused to cooperate. However, during the course of the investigation it was determined Yates was also in possession of a firearm at the time of the shooting.
Yates was charged with the possession of a defaced firearm, a class three felony; aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon while under the age of 21, both class four felonies.
An arrest warrant for Yates has been issued.
