A Chicago man was sentenced in a Grundy County court case on Monday, November 22nd.
Damien Chaves pled guilty to retail theft, a class two felony and was placed on four years of probation.
He was also sentenced to 64 days in the Grundy County Jail and pay more than $5,000 in fines and restitution.
The Morris Police Department said the 21-year-od Chavez stole around $2,500 from a business in the 300 block of East Route 6 in Morris two separate times in May of 2020.
In each incident, Chavez left the through an emergency exit door, which is why the retail theft charge, is a class two felony.
