A Morris man was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Battery in the 1800 block of North Route 47 around 6 p.m. on July 7th.
Morris Police Chief John Severson said his department and other first responders were called to conduct a welfare check on 34-year-old David Wessel, who was found lying on the ground in the parking lot of the aforementioned address.
While he was receiving medical care, Severson said Wessel became agitated and uncooperative, which led to him allegedly grabbing a Morris female paramedic’s wrist and bending it backwards, causing her pain.
A short time later, Wessel also struck an officer in the head with his knee. The officer and paramedic both refused medical treatment at the scene. Wessel remains in the Grundy County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
