The Coal City Police Department last week arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Investigators were made aware on November 12th that Steff Nichols, 30, of Coal City allegedly sexually assaulted a child on numerous occasions somewhere in Coal City in 2018 and 2019.

Nichols turned himself into the Coal City Police Department on November 20th and has been charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, all class X felonies.

The Coal City Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing and more charges could be filed in the future.

Nichols posted a $500,000 bond on Friday. Since he is out on bond, Nichols won't be able to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 including his children.
