Lyondell Basell in Morris celebrated their 50th anniversary on Tuesday and held a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new state of the art facility.

In July of 2018, the company broke ground on their $55 million, 89,000 square-foot centralized operations center.

The new facility features a state-of-the art control room, maintenance shops, offices and testing laboratory.

Lyondell Basell CEO Bob Patel spoke about the anniversary as well as the new building.

Patel said Lyondell Basell contributes their sustainability to having little impact on the environment as possible with their products and how they produce them.

Also speaking at the event was Illinois Lieutenant Governor Julianna Stratton.

During the ribbon cutting portion of the festivities, Morris Mayor Dick Kopczick declared November 5th  as Lyondell Basell Day in Morris.

Lyondell Basell representatives wanted to thank State Senator Sue Rezin, State Representative David Welter and others for attending the event.
