("El Loro" by Marlen Hueramo)

Congressman Adam Kininzger has announced the winner of this year’s congressional art competition.

This year’s winner is “El Loro” by Marlen Hueramo of Rochelle Township High School. The artwork portrays a Red Macaw created with colored pencils and ink with a gray and white backdrop of the words ‘EL Loro’ repeated to create a pattern. Entries receiving honorable mentions this year were “The Chameleon” by Rachel Tapanes of Princeton High School, “Satisfaction” by Reylee Katner of Polo Community High School and “Viet Cong” by Olivia Schickel of Pontiac Township High School.

Kinzinger’s office said they received more than 20 entries this year and thanked every student for participating. “El Loro” will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year, while the three honorable mentions will be displayed in Kinzinger’s three office locations.
