Steven Krause

The Illinois National Guard is remembering a retired Command Sgt. Maj. from Yorkville who passed away last week. He was 49.

In a post, the guard gave their deepest sympathies to the family of Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Steven C. Krause, who passed away on June 16.

Krause retired with 31 years of service in October 2019.

According to a his obituary, Mr. Krause was a proud Veteran of the United States Army National Guard, serving in Afghanistan.

In their post, the Illinois National Guard posted a video from Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Krause's retirement ceremony where he discussed his time in the military and his philosophy of leadership.

In addition to his military service, the obituary for Mr. Krause indicates he was a Teacher at Plainfield North High School and a member of the Association of Plainfield Teachers.

He was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville.

Steven C. Krause, age 49 of Yorkville, IL passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. He was born on October 31, 1970 in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of Frank and Miriam (Blair) Krause Sr.

Steven was united in marriage on March 18, 2006 to Rebecca Czupryna and they spent the next 14 years happily together. Mr. Krause was a proud Veteran of the United States Army National Guard, serving in Afghanistan and retiring after 30 years of service with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. Mr. Krause was a Teacher at Plainfield North High School and a member of the Association of Plainfield Teachers, in Plainfield, IL. Steven was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and his many, many friends.

Steven is survived by his wife, Rebecca Krause of Yorkville, IL; his twin sons, Jackson and Andrew Krause of Yorkville, IL; his mother, Miriam Krause of Lisle, IL; his brothers, Frank (Jennifer) Krause Jr., of Manassas, VA and Michael Krause of Lisle, IL; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Krause, Sr.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 22, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut Street, Yorkville, IL with Father Matthew Lamoureux, M.I.C., officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors, in the Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.
