State lawmakers are expanding the state’s medical cannabis program.
The legislature passed a bill making the pilot program permanent and adding more qualifying conditions such as chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, autism, anorexia and migraines.
State Senator Laura Fine of Glenview says medical marijuana has been beneficial to her husband who lost an arm in a car accident.
The measure also lets physician’s assistants and advanced practice nurses recommend medical cannabis instead of just doctors.
It’s up to the governor to sign it into law.
