The Illinois Liquor Control Commission issued a statement on Monday in what they say is an effort to dispel rumors circulating that alcohol sales will be banned, due to COVID-19.

The commission says that alcohol sales will continue throughout (and beyond) the Governor’s Emergency Declaration, which currently is in place until April 7th but may be extended.

Some hoax articles were circulating regarding sales being banned in Chicago and throughout the state, starting April 1st.

The commission questioned whether the false articles were April Fools' Day related but say they are ensuring that all alcohol sales will continue.

More information with official correspondence can be found on the Illinois Liquor Control Commission's website.
