The Illinois House of Representatives took time on Wednesday to honor longtime WSPY broadcast engineer Lane Lindstrom, who passed away in July, by reading a resolution on the house floor.

As WSPY has previously reported, Illinois House Resolution 582 was filed by 106th District Republican Rep. Thomas Bennett who represents Pontiac and Gibson City.

Bennett read the resolution on the house floor.

The resolution was co-sponsored by Rep. David Welter of Morris, Rep. Keith Wheeler of Oswego, Rep. Jeff Keicher of Sycamore and Rep. Tom Demmer of Dixon, who all serve in the districts that Lindstrom worked in over the years.

Lane Lindstrom of Pontiac was employed at WSPY in Plano for over 45 years, keeping our stations on the air and sounding good. He passed away on July 20th at the age of 59.

Lindstrom worked for over 18 radio stations during his career, from Plano to Kankakee, Peoria, Joliet and elsewhere.

Lindstrom was part owner of WJEZ in Pontiac. In addition to being employed at WSPY and Nelson Multimedia Inc. stations, Lindstrom was a partner with our sister stations at Grundy County Broadcasters, WCSJ and WJDK in Morris. He was also on-air at WGCY in Gibson City.

Lindstrom was originally of Joliet, graduating from Joliet East High School in 1977. He then attended Joliet Junior College.

A portion of the resolution reads, "we mourn the passing of Lane M. Lindstrom and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further resolved that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lane Lindstrom as a symbol of our respect and esteem."
