The Illinois Department of Public Health has released guidelines on how to safely gather for the upcoming holiday season. Director Ngoze Ezike says the usual safety guidelines apply just as if you were out in public with other people around.
Holiday meals could look a bit different. Ezike suggests plenty of hand washing and the cleaning of shared serving utensils. If possible, avoid buffet style serving.
Ezike is also advising to keep capacity limits in mind Gatherings in most parts of Illinois are currently capped at fifty. In Region One, which includes DeKalb County, only gatherings of up to 25 people are allowed if there's space.
Ezike says people should also consider potential COVID-19 while traveling and remember to wear a mask while riding trains or airplanes or when stopping for gas while driving.
