More details have been released in regards to a Grundy County Sheriff’s Deputy being shot by a Will County teenager after a pursuit in the Mazon area around five last night. Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley.
Briley told WCSJ the officer is Tyler Post.
Briley said Post was able to use a tourniquet to stop the bleeding in the arm area.
Briley said Demarkus Denwiddie, 18, of Joliet eventually surrender after talking with the Will County SWAT commander at an apartment complex in Mazon.
Briley also said Denwiddie told the SWAT commander that he was shot and taken to a local hospital for his injuries.
Briley wanted to thank every officer who assisted at the scene.
Meanwhile, Briley said the Illinois State Police is investigating the incident and it is unclear when Denwiddie will be charged.
