The Grundy Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity has selected a new family for their 14th home.
Elena Cabral with Habitat for Humanity was in our studios on Thursday speaking about the process.
Cabreal said Kathleen Elsen and her son, 10-year-old Patrick were chosen to live in the new house. Kathleen Elsen, who was also in our studios, shared her thoughts.
Cabral said Kathleen is a hard-working certified nurse’s assistant and never gave up on the dream of owning a home.
Volunteer Construction Manager Derek Wren is leading the build with tenured volunteer John Latimer advising. Family Support Committee Member Margie Justic will serve as the Elsen family mentor.
To join the effort as a volunteer, lunch provider, or with a donation, call 815-942-1452.
The community is invited to the blessing of their home site and driving the first nails on Friday, September 13th at 5:00pm.
The house is located at 906 E. North Street in Morris.
