The unemployment rate in Grundy County went skyrocketing as expected for April.
Nancy Norton with the Grundy Economic Development Council said the rate went from 6.3 percent in March of 2020 to 17 percent in April.
The number of unemployment claims filed in March was 1,500 and that number rose to nearly 4,100 in April. Some surrounding counties fared worse than Grundy County while others did better.
Unemployment was at 18.4 percent in LaSalle County, Kendall County was at a 16.6 percent, Will County was at 17.5 percent and Livingston County had a rate of 12.2 percent.
