The Grundy County Health Department announces additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Grundy County. Health Administrator Michelle Pruim said Grundy County now has 101 cases and 77 recoveries. Of the 101 cases, 52 are males and 49 are females.
In addition, 71 people under the age of 50 and 41 individuals over the age of 50 had or currently have Covid-19 in Grundy County. The first positive case was identified in Grundy County on March 23, 2020. Grundy County mourns the death of two residents who passed away as a result of COVID-19 complications: one male in his 70’s with underlying health conditions and one male in his 90’s with underlying health conditions.
Additionally, Grundy County Health Department announces 640 persons with a negative test result for a total of 741 total Grundy residents tested. Data is continuously reconciled internally and with the IL Department of Public Health, and previously reported data is subject to change as databases are reconciled.

Prium also said as the Stay at Home Executive Order has expired, and we are now in Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan, please continue to practice social distancing so that we remain on course to enter Phase 4 at the end of June: stay greater than six feet from others when you are out in public, wear a face covering to protect those around you, stay home when you’re sick and wash your hands often.
She also said entering Phase 3 feels a bit like a victory and the residents of Grundy have been incredibly patient and compliant during these past several months. The Health Department remains available for questions from local business owners and the general public regarding COVID-19.
