The Grundy County Health Department is asking the public to complete a survey if they have recently eaten at a Morris restaurant suspected of being the source of a salmonella outbreak.
Anyone who ate at La Mex on Jackson Street in downtown Morris since late August is asked to complete the survey, even if they didn’t develop any symptoms.
A link to the survey may be found on the Grundy County Health Department Facebook page. Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps and fever.
Local and State officials have said eight cases of salmonella are thought to have been linked to the restaurant.
At this point, the Grundy County Health Department, said that "this outbreak does not appear to be directly correlated to operating errors or issues in the establishment, but with the food sold by their suppliers."
La Mex has voluntarily closed and is fully cooperating with authorities.
