Grundy County officials are hosting a forum to discuss the upcoming update of the Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan.  

The public meeting to discuss the Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan and garner input from residents is set to take place on Tuesday, October 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Grundy County Board Room located at 1320 Union Street in Morris.

The plan will update the Hazard Mitigation Plan developed in 2013. According to University of Illinois Extension Community Development Educator Carrie McKillip, the plan will reflect the numerous strides made in mitigation and preparedness since the original plan was developed.

McKillip, the lead facilitator on the plan update, said she hopes to have a great turnout at the meeting so additional ideas can be generated to make Grundy County as safe as possible from natural hazards.

She added the county has completed 55% of the plan activities included in the previous plan.
