A special use petition that would allow a dog kennel business to locate on Airport Road in Grundy County has been the topic of discussion the past two months.

In October, the Zoning Board of Appeals recommended a no vote, but the Land Use Committee approved it at their meeting.

However, the Grundy County Board in November did not take action on the special use as they wanted the Land Use Committee to discuss the issue again.

Grundy County Land Use Director Heidi Miller said the special use has been filed by Jeff and Deena Lapikas who live at 3565 Airport Road in Morris.

At the most recent Land Use committee meeting, several neighbors spoke against the project.

Committee members Ken Iverson and Harold Vota explain why they are voting no.

Last month, the Land Use Committee voted no on the project, but the final vote will be made at the Grundy County Board meeting on December 10th.
