Two local fire departments continue to rely on their Special Operations Water Vehicle for major flooding events.

The Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District along with the Minooka Fire Department used their trucks at the Ravine Woods Apartments on Ottawa Bend Drive to help out several residents.

Morris Fire Chief Tracey Steffes spoke with WCSJ.

Steffes said he may upgrade their truck in the future.

Steffes said they got the Light Medium Tactical Vehicle – a 1998 model which can top out at 55 miles per hour, in April of 2018. The vehicle stands 12-feet high, can go through deep water most other vehicles can't, and a snorkel means the engine will run even when submerged.
