Governor JB Pritzker is signing a package of new laws to help protect immigrants living in Illinois.

The first new law prevents local police from participating in US Immigration and Customs Enforcement efforts, while another bans immigrant detention centers from being built in Illinois.

Governor Pritzker shared his thoughts about the legislation.

The final new law creates the “rise act” which makes undocumented and transgender eligible to receive state college map grants.
