Several felony charges have been filed against a Gardner man accused of killing a female and her unborn child. After a six month investigation, 26-year-old Colin West was indicted on the charge of Drug Induced Homicide, a class X felony; unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a class two felony and involuntary manslaughter and reckless homicide of an unborn child, a class three felony.
West is accused of knowingly delivering a controlled substance to 23-year-old Samantha Kile, who thereafter injected, ingested, absorbed or inhaled any amount of that controlled substance into her body, which caused her death as well as the death of her unborn child, Jaxsen Kile.
The death occurred somewhere in Will and Grundy County on November 3rd of 2018. West is also facing four drug dealing charges out of Will County from earlier this year. He is accused of dealing heroin, fentanyl, amphetamine and other drugs somewhere in the Braidwood area on February 25th and March 12th of this year. He was free on bond in that case, but remains in the Grundy County Jail on a $1 million bond in the new case.
The Braidwood Police Department would like to thank the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, Will County Sheriff’s Department, Joliet Police Department, Joliet Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad, and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force for their help in the case.
