Four people were injured in a three vehicle accident that occurred on Route 47 in front of the Grundy County Fairgrounds around 4:40 p.m. on July 7th.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department said a vehicle driven by Donald Trejo, 73, of Morris turned onto Route 47 to go north and then proceed to slow down to make a U-turn to go south.

In the process, a vehicle driven by Steven Shirley, 58, of Plano rear ended Trejo’s vehicle. An AMF FLH Series Motorcycle operated by Gregory Luce, 27, of Island Lake, Illinois advised he was attempting to avoid debris, locked up his brakes which then caused his motorcycle to lay down on its side.

Trejo and Shirley along with a passenger in both vehicles were transported to Morris Hospital. The sheriff’s office did not say if any citations were issued.

Both lanes of Route 47 were closed in front of the Grundy County Fairgrounds for at least an hour due to the incident. The Morris Fire Department and Channahon Fire Department also provided assistance at the scene.
