A former music teacher at Reed Custer School District was sentenced on child pornography charges this week.
In August of 2018, investigators got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Kevin Macha, 29, of Joliet was using a social media platform to share child pornography.
During the execution of a search warrant at his house numerous electronic items were seized.
During an interview with police in December of 2018, Macha made incriminating statements and was arrested for possessing child porn.
Macha was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, all class three felonies.
Macha pled guilty to one count this week and was sentenced to serve 180 days in the Will County Jail.
He must also register as a sex offender, serve two years of probation, and pay a sexual assault fine.
Macha had been teaching music for grades 5 through high school at Reed Custer School District since August of 2015.
Macha was also the Band Director for the Joliet American Legion.
