A former teacher at Dirksen Junior High School in Joliet was sentenced for sexually assaulting a former student. 

Kyle Camp, 36, of Minooka was arrested by the Minooka Police Department in March of 2016 and pled guilty to the charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a minor in December of 2018. 

Camp was sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on the class X felony and was given credit for serving more than 1000 days in the Grundy County Jail. 

Camp must serve 85 percent of the sentence, must register as a sex offender for life and will be on parole for a period of three years to life once released from the Illinois Department of Corrections. 

Camp will be released from prison in nine and half years. The class X felony charge carries a prison sentence of 6 to 60 years.
