One person was rescued on the Mazon River after a canoe had capsized around 4:15 p.m. on May 18th.
The Braceville Fire Protection District said a man who was canoeing went under water in the area of East Grand Ridge Road and South Gorman Road. First responders went to that area and found difficulty accessing the victim due flooded roadways.
A MABAS box alarm was called to assist with the rescue. The victim was found hanging onto a tree branch and removed in good condition within about an hour. He subsequently refused transport to the hospital.
Braceville Fire officials want to thank the MABAS 15 water rescue team and all the agencies that assisted.
