The Edward Hines Jr. VAMC outreach team will be in Channahon at the Village Hall enrolling Veterans and answering questions about VA health care on Wednesday October 13, 2021 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The team will be at the village hall at 24555 S Navajo Dr, Channahon, IL 60410.

The outreach team coordinator along with a VA nurse and a veteran service officer from the Grundy County VAC will be on-site. For the next couple of outreach events the VA will also be offering seasonal flu shots to eligible veterans. Information about other vaccinations will be available from the nurse. This event is open to all veterans, no registration is required.

You may be eligible for VA health care benefits if you served in the active military, naval, or air service and didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge. If you enlisted after September 7, 1980, or entered active duty after October 16, 1981, you must have served 24 continuous months or the full period for which you were called to active duty (Reserve and Guard service members).

There are other conditions under which you might be eligible, attending these outreach events will allow you to discuss your situation with the coordinator directly. Please bring a copy of your DD214 and a Photo ID. “Veterans are fortunate to have access to VA health care at the Joliet and LaSalle VA Clinics but even more fortunate to have the outreach team coming to several locations in the area to meet with veterans and their families so they can learn more about the health care benefits available to them.” said Ken Buck, Superintendent of the Grundy County VAC.
