A former Dwight Township High School teacher accused of sexually assaulting a male student had her second court appearance this week.
Kathy Patten, 34, of Dwight has been charged with criminal sexual assault, a class one felony. Livingston County Court records show that Patten allegedly sexually assaulted a male student between the ages of 13 and 17 somewhere in Livingston County between November 2018 and February 2019.
In early June, Dwight High School Superintendent Richard Jancek said they were made aware of a rumor and took immediate action to investigate, which led to them contacting the Dwight Police Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
Patten was arrested by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department on May 31st and later released after Douglas Patten posted the required $25,000 bond.
Patten was a family and consumer science teacher at Dwight Township High School. She is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 21st.
