Two individuals from Bloomington are in custody after the Casey’s gas station in Dwight was robbed early Wednesday morning. The Dwight Police Department said 21-year-old Kurtis Bowling and 30-year-old Lawrence Lloyd entered the store, brandished a long black gun and demanded money.
Dwight Police Chief Tim Henson said an undetermined amount of cash and Newport cigarettes were stolen. Nearly nine hours after the robbery, Lloyd was spotted at the CVS Pharmacy in Dwight. During a search of Lloyd’s belongings, several unopened Newport cigarettes, a jacket and a long black gun were recovered.
It was announced on Thursday morning that Bowling was arrested in McLean County on an unrelated charge. Bowling and Lloyd were charged with armed robbery, a class X felony and remain in the Livingston County Jail. McLean County court records show Lloyd is on probation for possessing a stolen vehicle, a class two felony.
