Republican Sixteenth District Congressman Adam Kinzinger has been named to TIME Magazine's 100 Next list. The list highlights emerging leaders shaping politics, technology, and business.
Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan wrote for the TIME 100 Next list that Kinzinger proved the measure of his courage by advocating that former President Donald Trump be removed from office after the attack on the Capitol last month. Kinzinger thinks that the former president encouraged the mob before it stormed the Capitol building on January 6th. Hogan also mentioned Kinzinger's military service in Iraq.
Kinzinger says he's humbled by the recognition. He says he wants to move beyond personality politics and put the United States first with integrity and principles.
Kinzinger has launched a campaign aimed at what he calls restoring the Republican Party. Kinzinger has said that the party needs to move away from conspiracy theories and former President Trump if it wants to lead again. He was among the Republicans to vote for Trump's second impeachment over the January 6th Capitol riot. Former President Trump was recently acquitted in the Senate.
