The Coal City School Board this week approved the purchase of vacant property at 690 Carbon Hill Road.
Superintendent Kent Bugg explains how this came about.
We asked Bugg what the district plans to do with the property in the future.
Bugg said the property will be paid for by funds from financial reserves, which currently earn a nominal rate of interest.
Since the Board will not need to bond for these funds, there will be no increase in the school district tax rate resulting from the purchase.
