On March 30th, Coal City District 1 formally endorsed an energy bill under consideration by the Illinois general assembly.
A large portion of the school’s budget comes from tax revenue generated by Dresden Nuclear Station, which is now slated to close.
The Climate Union Jobs Act, sponsored in part by State Senator Sue Rezin, would invest millions of taxpayer dollars into modernizing and preserving the state’s energy industry. Superintendent Kent Bugg called into WCSJ to explain why the board chose to back this bill.
Bugg said he is now optimistic that Dresden will stay open.
