The city of Morris and members of the Morris Country Club LLC have agreed to annex three acres of land next to Nettle Creek Golf Course.
The former Nettle Creek Country Clubhouse was destroyed by fire in April of 2019. Morris Fire Chief Tracey Steffes said the cause of the blaze was undetermined after a two week investigation was conducted.
He also said there were no suspicious or criminal circumstances found by investigators. The Morris Development Review Committee in December approved plans that were presented by Morris Country Club LLC members for a new pro shop.
An engineer with the company and Guy Christensen spoke during that meeting.
Last night, the city council approved annexing three acres of property and rezoning it to recreational commercial. The new facility is slated to be around 2,400 square feet and will be constructed by this summer.
