The Commercial and Broadway Street realignment project in Marseilles is still in the works.

The City of Marseilles now owns a vacant lot behind the building the city is tearing down.

Originally, the Seneca man who owned the lot was going to let the city purchase the property but later backed out. The city then condemned the property and planned to take the man to court to get the lot. Instead, the city has purchased the entire lot and plans to sell what they don't need.

Mayor Jim Hollenbeck said this situation caused a delay in some of the bidding that could have been done in June, but even with this delay, we were still able to do some November bidding. But in order to finish the project, a vacant building still needs to be knocked down.”
