Several new faces will be on the Morris City Council come May 1st. Current Third Ward Alderman Derrick Wren defeated Kenneth Willis in the Consolidated Election that was held on Tuesday. Wren finished with 116 votes and Willis had 73.
Current Mayor Dick Kopccizk and City Clerk Carol Adair did not seek reelection as they will be replaced by Chris Brown and Lori Werden respectively. Brown and Werden were unopposed in the election. Terri Kief was elected as Treasurer, a position that has been vacant since 2019. Mary Beth O"Brien, who held the position passed away in 2019.
First and Second Ward Alderman Herb Wyeth and Julian Houston, who were also unopposed retained their seats for the next four years. Current First Ward Alderman Jake Duvick was reelected for the next two years as he was unopposed.
Dean Tambling was elected as Second Ward Alderman for next two years and will replace Justin Olson who did not seek reelection. Current Fourth Ward member Sarah Mettille was reelected for a four year term. Tambling and Mettille were unopposed. All elected members will be sworn in on May 3rd.
