Channahon residents might see a decrease on the village’s portion of their property tax bills next year and a few extra dollars in their pockets, if EAV estimates by the village are correct.
Channahon is in both Will and Grundy Counties, and its Finance Director Heather Wagonblott said she has information on the EAV of Will, but not on Grundy as of yet.
Estimates, though, show an increase in overall EAV, which she said would allow property tax rates to decrease. Wagonblott recommended the village levy $2.747 million, which does not include bond debt. A village board vote on the levy is not expected until its December 16 meeting.
Also announced was the deadline for registering for the Channahon Home Decorating Contest. Those wanting to enter must do so my December 5. Information can be obtained at the village of Channahon’s website.
