A Will County man slated to have a bench trial this week failed to appear in court. Shaun Cailey, 32, of Channahon has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery, both class three felonies.
Police officials say Cailey allegedly threw a man to the ground causing a facial fracture at a liquor establishment along Route 47 in Morris in March of 2019. He was arrested by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department on that charge in January of 2020.
Cailey has pleaded not guilty and elected to have a bench trial which was set to happen in front of Grundy County Judge Rob Marsaglia on November 16th.
However, Cailey failed to appear for the bench trial and is now wanted on a $50,000 arrest warrant out of Grundy County. A bond forfeiture hearing is set for January 7th.
Cailey was sentenced to three years in prison for Aggravated Battery in 2007, two years for domestic battery in 2013 and 30 months for domestic battery in 2015. All those convictions were in Grundy County.
