The Channahon Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 26011 Woodland Court around 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th. Upon arrival, the fire department found a 2-story single family residence with heavy fire in the garage extending into the attic.
The call was upgraded to a Full Still to provide additional resources to the scene. The fire in the garage was extinguished and the remaining house checked for fire extension into the attic. The family was home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries on the scene. The structure obtained extensive damage to the garage area.
The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes with salvage and overhaul operations continuing. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Channahon Fire District Chaplain was on the scene to ensure the family needs were met. Division 15, Division 19, and The State Fire Marshall were requested to the scene for the fire investigation.
Fire companies from Minooka, Troy, Elwood, Plainfield, Wilmington, East Joliet, Morris, Braidwood, Lockport, and Manhattan assisted on the scene and provided District coverage.
